V.D. Seredavin" in the period from 2012 to 2020. All patients underwent CT of the chest as the primary diagnostic radiological method.</p> <p><bold>Results. </bold>Plain radiography allows for visualizing and evaluating the number of metal ligatures on the sternum, their position and relationship with it. The preference for CT is due to its capabilities both as a screening method and as a method for clarifying diagnostics (diagnosis verification). It helps to visualize the comparison of the sternal parts, the state of metal ligatures, determine the indications for bone resection and removal of incompetent fixing elements.</p> <p><bold>Conclusion.</bold> Each radiographic method for examining the chest has its own indications and its place in the arsenal of a thoracic surgeon.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><bold>Цель</bold> – провести оценку современных возможностей применения полипозиционной рентгенографии и компьютерной томографии в диагностике инфекционно-воспалительных процессов грудной стенки.</p> <p><bold>Материал и методы. </bold>В хирургическом торакальном отделении ГБУЗ «Самарская областная клиническая больница им. В. Д. Середавина» в период с 2012 по 2020 гг. находился на лечении 221 пациент с инфекционным процессом в области грудины и ребер. Всем пациентам выполнялась КТ органов грудной клетки в качестве первичного диагностического лучевого метода исследования.</p> <p><bold>Результаты.</bold> Обзорная рентгенография позволяет визуализировать и оценить количество металлических лигатур на грудине, их положение и взаимоотношение с ней. Предпочтение КТ обусловлено возможностью ее использования как в качестве скрининг-метода, так и в качестве метода уточняющей диагностики (верификации диагноза).
